3rd Annual Figspeed West Coast Classic Will Expand to 3 Full Days of Racing Over Memorial Day Weekend
FONTANA, CA – Big-money bracket racing broke ground in Southern California in 2015 when the Inaugural Figspeed West Coast Classic was held at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif. The enormous response over the first 2 years has pushed the event to grow including 3 full days of racing with increased payouts during Memorial Day weekend May 25-28, 2017.
Racepak Super Pro (Electronics / Top-Bulb) will be racing for $5,000 both Friday and Sunday, with Saturday for $10,000. Lucas Oil Pro (Non-Electronics / Bottom-Bulb) will race for $3,000 Friday/Sunday and $4,500 Saturday. The event purse has also increased to the round of 1/16’s in each main event. On top of the several opportunities at Guaranteed Money, Classic racers will also have their shot at Custom Classic Trophies, Big Checks, Practice Tree Tournament, over $25,000 in Racer Appreciation Giveaways, and a Racer Appreciation Party hosted by Figspeed and West Coast Bracket Races.
Also returning to the 3rd Classic will be the Bonus Big Dollar 1/8th mile shoot-outs. This year Silver State Commercial Refrigeration will host the 64-Car Super Pro Shoot-Out for $15,000 and Meziere Enterprises once again is stamped on the INCREASED Pro Shootout that will now host 64-Cars for $10,000. Pre-Entry for these Shoot-Outs will open February 1st, 2017. Action will begin Thursday with a track hosted Test-N-Tune and Run for the Money.
“We have been very pleased with the participation and response from the first two Figspeed West Coast Classic events, and we are working toward making this years’ event better than ever,” said Chris Forsyth, West Coast Bracket Races owner/promoter. “The goal from the start has been to establish a destination for west coast bracket racers to have opportunity. We are utilizing this platform to showcase our racers as well as all of the great companies that support them and these events.”
“I am thrilled by the interest and investment that so many companies have contributed to help this event grow into a schedule must for west coast racers. In 2016, 38 companies contributed to give away nearly $40,000 in Racer Appreciation Prizes. Their commitment to sportsman racing and the racers, their customers, is alive and very well and we strive to assist in that connection between them.”
The scheduling of the event provides additional convenience to racers who compete in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series with the Division 7 event being hosted in Fontana the previous weekend. Racers will be afforded the option of leaving their transporters at the facility between events.
“We wanted the schedule to help cater to our traveling market,” added Forsyth. “Providing an additional full day of racing gives everyone an extra chance to win, plus hosting the event over the holiday weekend gives many racers an extra day of travel.”
“We owe a great deal of gratitude to Les and Sue Figueroa from Figspeed for their ongoing commitment to the event and every one of their customers; our retuning major sponsors Racepak, Lucas Oil, Huntsville Engine, Meziere Enterprises, and Silver State Commercial Refrigeration; and of course our relationship with Auto Club Dragway which has branded the event for Southern California and provided a staff that has been instrumental in creating the experience for our racers. I cannot thank them all enough.”
